Rules of the Computer Eastfront Challenger Tournament An active, worldwide
community of Eastfront enthusiasts wishing to test and hone
their strategic skills. The challenger
tournament is their battlefield... Joining the tournament: - New players are welcome at any time. They will be placed on the challenger ranking ladder with a ranking of 1000 points. Challenging &
Waiting list: - Every player has two "mandatory" playing slots as the challenged player and five "voluntary" playing slots as the challenger. That means that a player may be forced to play two matches at one time as the challenged player. The five voluntary slots as the challenger means that a player may play a maximum of seven matches at one time. - If a player is challenged by more than two players at the same time, the additional challengers are placed on a waiting list for the challenged player. John Norgaard manages the challenging process and the waiting lists. Please send all challenge requests to John. He will either issue the challenge or place the challenger on the appropriate waiting list. Please realize this important rule: This is a challenger
tournament! This means that when you are challenged
you must play that match with priority over any voluntary matches you
might be playing at the moment.
So, if you are
short of time for whatever reason, the voluntary matches will have to
wait. A minimum of 1 turn per week is the guideline though
many
players play at a much faster pace. Nov '41: 27 - Example 1 - Nov '41; - If a match is concluded in less than 4 weeks per EastFront season (half-year) then a 10 point "fast play" bonus is in effect. The winner of the match gains 30 ranking points; the loser loses 10 ranking points. - If a player is challenged and defeated by a player who is ranked more than 10 places higher than the challenged player then the winning player receives only 10 ranking points (the loser still loses 20 ranking points). "Fast play" bonuses are still in effect. - For matches ending in a draw the lower rated player wins. Year-End Tournament: - A year-end, single elimination tournament is open to any player who has completed at least one challenger match during the year. Victors in the tournament will be awarded ranking points as explained above. There will be no reduction due to relative rankings of more than 10 ranking slots. Fast play bonus rules are in effect. Those defeated in the tournament will suffer no ranking point losses. Ranking classes as
